i also want the answer to it but i have this rough idea as you know Styrofoam is a good insulter do u know why food is kept in a Styrofoam container its because it will the food warm for a longer time if it is kept in other types of containers. So i think it will be the same for ice chips it will keep the ice chips for a longer time i hope this helps
