SOAD will get back together eventually, it's just that they are currently on hiatus, which means that they are just taking a break. Daron not so long said in an interview that it would be at least 3 years. So don't worry! I think they will return soon. In the meantime you can listen to scars on Broadway or Serj Tankian.
John Dolyman(drummer) said in a interview on YouTube that they possibly will go on tour 2011 not posotive but that's what he said if you want to see for yourself here is the video.

∙ 14y agoI myself am a HUGE SOAD fan and it is very confusing to say whether they will get back together or not. I Have heard rumors that SOB (Scars On Broadway) is finished but there has been no word but after hearing that in a later interview both bassist from SOB and Drummer John Dolmayan have confirmed that the band is finished. Daron Malakian has really enjoyed his debut album but was a little jealous because Serj Tankain's debut album sold more than his. While Serj Himself is planning to realease a 2nd solo album sometime soon and i have found proof on twitter that malakian may be writing another album for SOB but is not telling his namdmates thus making the news teams and headliners think that the band is finished. So what could you see happening before a SOAD reunion? 1. Another Serj Tankian solo album 2. Maybe another SOB cd??? After all that happens and there is no actuall guarantee that both of those albums will be released but like i said before it is possible. The question you have been waiting for when will System Of A Down get back together? Im my opinion it could take another 1-5 years.

∙ 14y agoSystem of a Down is on a hiatus, and there has been talk of a reunion sometime in 2010. There may not be one because of the success of Scars On Broadway and Serj Tankian though.
They went of hiatus because they wanted to see if they could do okay on their own.

Daron said that he would appear more outside of his house, and to keep an eye out for him. For System Of A Down, there are numerous rumors of them getting back together, but no one knows for sure. I do believe that System is coming back together in 2010 during Christmas. Then again, only Daron,Serj,Shavo, and John know when they're coming back together.
