A:

The Bible is far from the oldest book ever written. Tradition suggests that the first five books were written by Moses, who can be dated from the biblical record to around 1440 BCE, although problems with this date cause others to suggest 1312 or 1250 BCE. However, biblical scholars say these books were not really written by Moses, who does not seem to be historical, but were written over a period of several centuries between 900 and 500 BCE. Egyptian and Mesopotamian writings are far older.
