The story is basically true in as much as the people and the events actually occurred as told. The producers do take some liberal license with the details for dramatization. Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths stuck to their story until 1982 when they admitted they had faked all but one of the photographs. They continued to maintain that they had seen fairies.

The story is a very real one, first taking place many millions of years ago when democracy was taking place, although very metaphorical the true story is still close to the one channelled and told by the french writer in the 17th century.

The beast is a young man who is unable to open his spiritual heart without the love of his beloved, such is the strength of their connection.

Just before the fire consumes him and his unstable heart the young women finds it in hers to return to him and help him spiritually grow into the handsome young man he truly is.
