The reason behind why they have abolished the SATs is because the processing system in America went wrong. The mark sytem was at a Holt prior to the last people who did the SATs the marks were not verified and some pupils were undermarked. It was a big issue at that time and many parents and students were concerned. Now they will set many test which you will get a report card which is very simmilar on how the schools in America function.
