not to bash Logic(i'm a Logic Pro 9 user myself), but Pro Tools has been the industry standard for so long that this seems almost like a silly question (considering you are comparing Pro Tools to Logic EXPRESS, which is a slimmed down version of Logic ( or a scaled up version of garage band, however you want to look at it))
Its like comparing a geo to a Ferrari. Go with the Pro Tools 8 :D

Yes for Logic. Pro Tools requires its own interface
Logic Pro is a digital music workstation used for the production of muisc, while Logic Studio, which is now discontinued, was a suite of music production apps, including Logic Pro, Mainstage and other applications.
The M Audio Hardware in Pro Tools 8 allows it to do voice extractions.
I think Logic Express 8 is a great program. It is light years more sophisticated than Garageband (which is fun) but also not prohibitively expensive. You will certainly need to get a midi controller of some sort (keyboard) if you don't have one already. I would highly recommend a book called Logic Pro 8 and Logic Express 8 by David Nahmani. It will take you step by step through this program in an easy-to-understand system. Without it, I was absolutely lost. In my opinion, the learning curve is way too steep without the book.
The pro tools 8 keyboard shortcut for setting punch markers is Command+Shift+P.
You can't. You need to upgrade to Pro Tools 9 or newer.
Some of the top rated audio software packages include: Ableton Live 8, Reason 4, KORE 2, Fl Studio, pro Tools M-Powered, Sonar, Apple Logic Express, ACID Music studio, n-track and Samplitude music studio.
Check the manual.

Depends what you install.
Lambda audio/midi interface was made for Cubase LE and is not compatible with Pro Tools. Now with Pro Tools 9 saying it supports any previous interface, I'm not sure. I have not updated from 8 to 9 yet. So if you plan on using pro tools 8 or earlier than no it is not.
