I had a similar dream last night. For me, i believe its to do with moving from one stage of my life to another, ie boht my kids are at school this year, and i really need to find a job, which is scary. Maybe that's why the baby in my dream was born premmy and die... it was a terrible dream really.
Scott Peck (author of the road less travelled, great book if you can read it) says " Life is a series of births and deaths", so I guess dreaming of birth can be a metaphor for moving to a different level in your life.
They are jsut my own thoughts.

if you see blood while delivering your help will come from someone who is very close to you( could be family member or friends )
this is a very good dream especially for someone who is experiencing some material problems .
