I have an entertainment laptop by HP and when I updated my system from Vista to 7,I had problems with the display drivers and the sound drivers as well.
I did find a solution to this.
Once you're done installing 7 on your desktop/laptop, go to control panel, settings, and then device manager.
On device manager, locate your display driver, click on properties and select update automatically. If this fails, select roll back - manually download the latest driver for your display card and run the .exe file from that download.
It should work fine after this.
Because an Nvidia graphics card doesnt use windows XP drivers...if youre trying to locate the drivers put the install disc in and have it search the drive

Install windows XP, then go to the website of the manufacturer of your device(s) and look for the windows xp driver. For example, you have nvidia geforce 9xxx, then go to nvidia.com, click the drivers (above) and choose windows xp. DOwnload and install each driver. Or if you have the disc for those driver(s), you can look for the windows xp drivers intead of windows vista. For the tutorial on how to install windows xp, got tohttp://tinyurl.com/installwxp or http://tinyurl.com/installwxp2

NVIDIA drivers are free to download from NVIDIA's website.
Yeah, sure it is. You just need a compatible motherboard and the needed drivers from the Nvidia website.
Drivers are files that help your computer understand how to use a part. Nvidia is a brand of Graphic cards. Updating your Nvidia drivers is important. www.Nvidia.com
That would be graphics drivers, with Intel, nVidia, and ATI the primary sources.
i have downloaded the drivers and when i attempt to install it says they cant recognize any hardware that it has drivers for. i tried uninstalling the old drivers but it wont let me, saying that i need them to boot up. the vaio website only has drivers from 2006, which i have already installed.
If you have an ATI video card, you do not need an NVIDIA driver. Ubuntu includes a "Restricted Drivers Manager" that will automatically download and install any proprietary drivers it detects your card needs.
Yes. You will need a supporting Motherboard and Drivers for it to run as intended.
