Negative impressions of people with disabilities?

Best Answer

The negative stigma attached to people particularly with L.D. (learning disabilities) is the perception of intellect.

Many learn of a person with L.D. and if this person with L.D. is articulate and able to write well, but seek assistance otherwise, they are seen as excuse makers, liars, exageraters and are often pushed aside, forced out of jobs and unfortunately excommunicated by those who DON'T GET IT! Ignorance is dangerous.

The theme here is...If one can't see the disability on an x-ray or with their eyes, it doesn't exist. Afetr all...How bad could it be? Right? Loss of job, loss of income, inability to be self supporting, loss of reputation. Not bad at all right?
