The heater can most likely not be shortened. If ceramic tiles were installed then they will have to be cut to expand the opening with great care. The tiles will have to be wet, and the right blade used to prevent shattering. This is cutting wet tile with an electrical tool so electrical shock must be considered.

Where can a person purchase a baseboard heater cover?

Baseboard heater cover may be available for purchase at a home specialists store, such as Home Base and B&Q. For online purchases visit 'Lowes' website for more information, in regards to costs and baseboard heater cover types. These products are known as dummy covers. They have been around a long time and require a tremendous amount of manual labor to completely remove the old crappy heaters and install the new dummy covers purchased from a big box store. These days there is a much more modern and far superior solution. It is the slip-on baseboard heater cover. The Baseboarders system is the most common and generally regarded as the industries' gold standard. The just slip over the original heater, fit nearly all makes and models, look nice and will not rust. Baseboarders can be purchased online. Just do a quick search for Baseboarders.

Would BMW extended warranties cover a broken heater in my car?

Yes, an extended warranty would cover a broken heater as long as it was from normal wear and tear. You can not have caused the problem to your heater. Extended warranties are always a good idea for vehicles, but especially the BMWs because their parts are very expensive compared to an American model. The labor rates may also be more than the average car.

This is quoted from an article in Motor Service, Feb, 2001 by Demian Hurst, ASE Certified Triple Master Technician, Master Chevrolet Technician. "Make sure the engine is NOT at operating temperature (in other words, thoroughly cool) ... The heater case cover screw nearest the firewall will be difficult to see, but is the secret to removing the heater core without lengthy and complex disassembly procedures ... Use a long? in.-drive extension to access and remove this screw. Carefully remove the heater case cover from the vehicle. ... Pinch off the heater hoses using the proper smooth-jawed clamps. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes at the firewall. Be prepared to catch the coolant for proper disposal. ... Remove the screws attaching the heater core to the heater case and remove the heater core."

How do you replace a heater core in a 1998 ford F800?

Really long bolts go through the heater core/blower motor housing into the cab. You have to go through the dash and undo the nuts and the housing will come off the front of the firewall in the engine bay. Once the housing's removed, it has a cover/bracket that has to be unscrewed around the perimeter of the housing to release the heater core.

How do you change the heater core in a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme?

You must rock the engine foreward to remove the heater hoses. To do this you need to remove the bolts holding the torque struts to the engine. use a prybar and pull the engine foreward far enough to insert the long bolt you removed from the strut through the loop hole on the strut. This will hold the engine. Then you need to remove the sound insulators under the dash board. There is a black HVAC box under the dash, Look for the center floor vent outlet under the dash and remove it. Then You will be able to access a big square cover on the HVAC box. There is something like 8 screws that hold the cover to the box. Once the cover is removed You will find the heater core and the a/c evaporator (looks like a heater core but a little bigger). There is a plate that retains the heater core in the box. The plate is secured by a couple of bolts. remove those bolts, remove the plate, then remove the heater core. When installing new heater core, use petroleum jelly or some kind of grease like white lithium and apply it to the heater hose necks on the heater core to aide installation of heater hoses.
