Diffusion is the process by which molecules travel passively down the concentration gradient to create an equilibrium.
However, the process of diffusion is not the only form of transport in a plant; nutrients are also extracted from the soil by a process known as active transport. This is not diffusion as the molecules are travelling up the concentration gradient and henceforth need energy, as the molecules are travelling from a low to a high concentration.
Diffusion envolopes over the process of osmosis which is diffusion srictly with water alone. In plants, osmosis allows water to be transported around the body.
In leaves (and green parts of the plant), diffusion is key to photosynthesis, as CO2 must enter the plant and reach the chlorophyll. The CO2 enters through stomata (small pores) and diffuses through the leaves to the chlorophyll. Then oxygen (a byproduct of photosynthesis), leaves the plant by the same process, diffusing through the plant and exitig through the stomata.
Hope this helps, i studied this a while ago.
the exchange of gases for example carbon intake and oxygen output for photosynthesis and oxygen intake and carbon dioxide output for respiration takes place by diffusion.
what is the importance of diffusion to the growth of the plant?
it is important inorder for the exchange of gases to occur
Diffusion is important to plants because it allows the uptake of useful molecules
no because colour
Gas exchange for photosynthesis - CO2 from the air diffuses into the leaf, and 02 diffuses out of the leaf into the air
Diffusion
Diffusion is the process by which small particles move from a place of high concentration to a place of lower concentration. By diffusion, small molecules like salts can go inside a cell from the outside. To keep itself alive, a Cell needs to take in many things from its outside. In Photosynthesis, gaseous Carbon Dioxide (CO2) enters the plant cell by diffusion. CO2 is very important in building food and making energy for the plants.
Diffusion:Diffusion describes the spread of particles through random motion from regions of higher concentration to regions of lower concentration. The time dependence of the statistical distribution in space is given by the diffusion equation. The concept of diffusion is tied to that of mass transfer driven by a concentration gradient, but diffusion can still occur when there is no concentration gradient (but there will be no net flux). diffusion is invoked in the social sciences to describe the spread of ideas.Facilitated diffusion:Facilitated diffusion (also known as facilitated transport or passive-mediated transport) is a process of passive transport, facilitated by integral proteins. Facilitated diffusion is the spontaneous passage of molecules or ions across a biological membrane passing through specific transmembrane integral proteins. The facilitated diffusion may occur either across biological membranes or through aqueous compartments of an organism

If the plant is devoid of stomata theΒ process of photosynthesis and respiration won't occur within the plant due to diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide not taking place.
It is the evaporation of water from the leaves and stems of the plant. It cools the plant and allows the diffusion of Co2 from the air for photosynthesis.
The plant cell absorbs water by simple diffusion and osmosis.
