He was. Although not unheard of, posing a victim or crime scene is not that common. This would be considered DeSolvo's 'signature'. Something above just the machanics of the crime. It was a behavior that was DeSolvo's, his psychological need. Danny Rollin, the Gainsville Ripper, was a poser, decapitating a victim and posing her body on the floor with her head above on a shelf. When the body was discovered the head was the first thing that was seen being opposite of the door. The Green River Killer Gary Ridgeway posed a few of his victims, others not. Sometimes the human mind is unpredictable.

If Albert DeSolvo didn't kill Mary Sullivan are they looking for the real killer?
With recent DNA evidence clearing Albert DeSolvo of the murder of Mary Sullivan her case is considered open. Sullivan, thought to be the last victim of the Boston Strangler, was murdered in her apartment on January 4, 1964. The Boston PD had a suspect and was preparing to make an arrest when DeSolvo confessed to the murder. It is possible the case may be reworked by cold cases detectives. Time will tell.

Whether it was ever closed I have not been able to verify, but the files have been dusted off and are being reworked by cold case detectives after DNA testing has eliminated Albert DeSolvo as the murderer of Mary Sullivan, the last victim in the series of murders known as the Boston Strangler killings. What many people are not aware of is DeSolvo was never charged with the Strangler crimes and was in fact serving time for other crimes when he was stabbed to death in his prison cell. After his arrest, DeSolvo confessed to the Strangler crimes and while he knew far too much about certain murders, others, he didn't have a clue, giving weight to the theory that there was more than one killer at large in the Boston area. Whatever the case, it will be very interesting to see what cold case investigators will turn up in one of the the most facinating crimes in American history.

The Stockton Strangler was a serial killer by the name of Kenneth Erskine. Erskine killed elderly women in London in 1986. Sounds very similar to a problem in Boston, USA in the 1960s. Boston's problem went by the name of Albert DeSolvo, aka The Boston Strangler.

Apartments were a common theme for the Boston Strangler, aka Albert DeSolvo. Most of DeSolvo's victims lived in apartments. It may have been planned on his part. He used the 'maintainence man' ruse to gain entry into the women's apartments.
