Jack helped Rose swim to find something floating in the water to lay on. When they found a door they both tried to get on it but it tipped over. So Jack let Rose stay on it and he stayed in the water and froze to death like everyone else did in the water. She only stayed alive because she wasn't in the water. She could hear someone on a nearby rescue boat shouting, so she swam (to a dead body) and blew a whistle. The rescue boat heard her and saved her.
