An employee of Raytheon, Dr. Percy Spencer, invented the microwave. The company improved on the design and eventually sold the first microwave.

Percy LeBaron Spenser did in 1946. He was an engineer working with Raytheon Corporation.
On October 8, 1945[5] Raytheon filed a US patent for Spencer's microwave cooking process,
First microwave oven was made in 1947. It was refrigerator sized, 750 pounds and cost $5000 (and that's back in 1947, that's in the range of house prices back then.) It was made by Raytheon and called a Radarange.
Raytheon Corporation, where he was actually trying to invent some kind of appliance for the war.
An engineer named Percy Spencer, who was involved with the construction of magnetrons for use in radar. (A magnetron is the microwave generating part of a microwave oven.) He worked for Raytheon, and when he found a melted chocolate bar partially melted in his pocket, he deduced that leaking microwave energy was the cause. To test his theory, he put food in a metal box and microwaved it, and it heated up very quickly. On the 8th of October, 1945, Raytheon filed for a patent, and the microwave oven was born.
In 1945 engineer Percy Spencer was researching radar at the Raytheon Company when he stopped in front of a magnetron, and noticed the chocolate bar in his pocket was melting. Spencer and other engineers at Raytheon went on to develop the first microwave oven.
The Microwave oven invented by Raytheon in 1945 while doing radar testing.
Raytheon, the inventor of the microwave oven. Maytag owns and makes Amana. Maytag was just purchased by Whirlpool.
Microwave ovens were used commercially before entering the home cooking market. Raytheon and Litton Industries Inc., both defense contractors, tried to sell microwave ovens in the United States without much success
Raytheon was created in 1922.
Raytheon's population is 72,000.
