Charlotte Bronte married her father's curate when she was about thirty-six years old. His name was Arthur Bell Nicholls and he appears to have wanted Charlotte for years before she agreed to marry him. She died only a year after their marriage of a complication of pregnancy. Her husband cared for Charlotte's father until his death and then returned to his native Ireland.

Charlotte Bronte's view of men and women was influenced by her own experiences and the social norms of her time. She often portrayed women as strong and independent characters who resisted societal constraints. At the same time, she depicted men with complex emotions and vulnerabilities, challenging traditional gender roles. Overall, Bronte's works show a desire for equality and the recognition of individual worth regardless of gender.

Charlotte Bronte was the only one of the three sisters to marry. She and her unborn child died less than a year after she married, in 1855. She was 38 years old.

Both Anne and Emily Bronte died of tuberculosis, Anne when she was 29, and Emily when she was 30 years old.

Why might working class women like charlotte woodward have supported the seneca falls convention and the declaration or sentiments?

Working-class women like Charlotte Woodward might have supported the Seneca Falls Convention and the Declaration of Sentiments because it addressed their concerns and grievances related to gender inequality. The movement advocated for women's suffrage, equal educational opportunities, and employment rights, which would have benefited working-class women who faced economic and social limitations. The Convention offered a platform for these women to voice their demands and seek collective action for their rights.

Is Charlotte Bronte ugly?

Some people might say so. If you meant Charlotte Bronte , the writer , I don't think she was ugly. She saw herself as she portrayed Jane Eyre in her book with the same name. So , Charlotte herself saw herself as being ugly. She said : "I will show you a heroine as plain and as small as myself." In the 19th century 'ugly' was used to describe people with classical African facial traits: subnasal prognatism. Dutch poet Jan Vos was deemed 'ugly' and 'as bad as Shakespeare' by some racist 19th century reviewer. Charlotte Brontë is supposed to have had a large nose and large mouth. The shape of her mouth and her complexion marred her looks, according to her publisher. Her books are full of brown and black complexions, like with Jane Austen. Vilette was of a 'brunette' complexion, as was Jane Austen in person. So today we would call them Blacks, but not automatically equate this with 'ugly.' Still Charlotte might not have been handsome.

Was Jane Eyre a real person?

Since this character carries my surname, I have been highly interested in the history of this book. It is my conclusion, and the conclusion of others, that Jane Eyre is not a real person of whom Charlotte Bronte wrote about. However, there are many parallels between Jane's and Charlotte's life, such as going away to the school and the death of so many girls, and Jane's employment as a governess and falling in love with the Master of one place she was employed at. So, one could argue that Charlotte wrote about herself in the book. I kind of wish Jane was real. It would have been a great boon to have traced my genealogy to her. ~ Barbara Eyre North Carolina
