The obvious one, of course, is that they both are black- yes Obama is coloured, but he is still part of a BLACK family. they are both also the first black presidents of their respective countries. They both also have African roots. Another one is that both countries were at war when these presidents came into office, South Africa was at war with itself (a civil war) and the USA is still at war with the East. Mandela took over SA during a period of financial stress in SA and Obama has taken over during the world's recession.
