Coordinates are numeral values within a plane or three-dimensional space that identify a point within that system.

In geometry, Cartesian coordinates indicate values within a grid system of perpendicular axes.

In geography, coordinates give latitude (North and South) and longitude (East and West). They show an exact place on the map and are traditionally expressed in degrees, minutes, and seconds (the angle from an arbitrary reference plane).
