What should 5th graders know about science?

Five skills scientists use to learn more about the world are:

Observing - Using one or more of your senses to gather information. Oberservations may be qualitative or quantitative.

inferring - explanations or interpretations of things observed

classifying - grouping items that are alike in some way

making models - creating representations of complex objects or processes

predicting - making a forecast of what will happen in the future based on prior experience or evidence
There are many skills that scientists use to learn about the natural world. Scientists use observation, measuring, and critical thinking skills for example.
