The basics really depend on your personal style.if you're mainstream and just want to fit in and be like everybody else, I suggest American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, Aeropostale...etc. if you're not, you might be surprised some of the things you can find for great prices at places you wouldn't expect like Target, Old Navy, Macy's, JCPenney, whatever you like. But as far as just basics go, I think everybody needs a basic white t-shirt, two pairs of well fitting and flattering jeans I.e. if you're a little chubby, don't wear super skinny jeans, a few pairs of basic shorts the length is up to you, maybe two or three skirts depending on how often you wear skirts, and then one or two formal dresses or outfits for special occasions.
