There are more than I can possibly describe and truly it depends on what type of lab you work in. But here are some basics:

Pipetters--both small (2 ul) to big (10 ml) to really big (100 mL)

Tissue Culture hoods--enclosures that produce air barriers to separate the inside liquids/solids from the outside environment while still being able to work with them

Bunsen Burners--you have to know what these are

Containers--petri plates, flasks, beakers, tubes, conicals--glass and plastic, there are hundreds of different containers for different tasks

Microscope--most labs have a good compound microscope with fluorescence lights and phase contrast condensers

Columns--measure liquids, etc.

Scales--measure amounts down to micrograms

Spectrophotometer--different types for different liquid suspensions and measures. We have a 'Nanospec' which measures amounts of DNA or protein in water suspensions, we also have one for measuring bacterial cell concentration in cultures

PCR machine--machine that amplifies template DNA to workable quantities

Electrophoresis machines/trays--for analyzing DNA on agarose gels

Western Blot Trays--for analyzing proteins on gels

Work Bench--to do your work of course!

Fridge, Freezers, Nitrogen Freezers--for storage and prevention of growth of bacteria

Autoclave--for sterilizing materials

Centrifuges--small ones for 1.5 mL tubes and huge ones for 35 mLs at 25,000 rpm, for separating out materials in liquids

That about sums it up :)

What kind of tools would you see in a science laboratory?

If you mean science equipment, then you'd see various types of glassware, apparatus for holding glassware, heating equipment such as a bunsen burner, safety equipment like fire extinguishers and goggles, measuring instruments like thermometers and all sorts of specialist stuff depending on the use of the laboratory. A teaching laboratory might have demonstration equipment like a ripple tank. If you mean everyday tools such as you'd find in your toolbox, I'd expect screwdrivers in different sizes, a drill, a hammer, pliers, wire strippers and possibly an adjustable wrench.
