Yesterday I answered a silly question about 8 essential elements to life. Please, for the love of god, don't be the same questioner who is under the notion that this is an improvement on the question.

If this is chemistry, there would be a number of "essential elements". Some of the major elements are the following, but there undoubtedly are many other elements that are required in small quantities.

Hydrogen

Oxygen

Carbon

Phosphorous

Sodium

Potassium

Chlorine

Iron

Nitrogen

Sulfur

Calcium

Zinc

----------------------------

All human proteins are made up of combinations of 20 amino acids. However, the human body can only produce 12 of them. The other 8 are called "Essential Amino Acids".

The 8 essential amino acids are:

phenylalanine, valine, threonine, tryptophan, isoleucine, methionine, leucine, and lysine

The 12 non-essential amino acids are:

alanine, arginine, asparagine, aspartate, cysteine, glutamate, glutamine, glycine, histidine, proline, serine and tyrosine

Apparently children also require supplements of:

cysteine, tyrosine, histidine and arginine

Some lists will include histidine as an essential amino acid.

Oxygen - O - to breathe

Carbon - C - to make up the o-zone layer to keep our planet warm, too much like at the moment and you have global warming

Helium - He - to make ur voice squeaky and pump up floating balloons!

Nitrogen - N - it makes up most of our atmosphere

Ther might be more :)

Why are supernovae essential for our existence?

Supernovae are essential for our existence because it distributed elements heavier than helium (those heavy elements are created in the star that later became the supernova) into the space. Those elements include carbon, oxygen, calcium, iron, iodine, and much more. Without those heavy elements, the Earth would not exist as a rocky planet, and essential elements for life would also not be available.
