" 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:37-40 NIV).

To believe in God first you need to have faith in God.

ANSWER:

Mt:22:39: And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Mt:5:43-44: Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Rom:13:9-10: For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Most important of all it teaches us :

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (Deuteronomy 6:5)

I don't belive it is right to set down rules of Christianity because it becomes legalism and conformity rather than an inward transformation. The moral of Christianity are all summed up in one law that currently stands and by which we will be judged. That law is the law of love at work within our character. Love God with all your heart and love your neighbour. Jesus said this to the rich young ruler. But I also believe that God has opinions, likes and dislikes that only his spirit can teach and a people need to get more and more of God's word into their hearts in order to tune in to what God requires in their lives. Not every current moral issue is recorded in The Bible with an instruction (ie smoking as an easy example) but the bible says that he will lead his sheep, they will hear his voice and follow him.
