It depends on your facility's regulations. Some places require that an RN monitor a patient's vitals while under sedation because of the risk of complications. Most nurses will do their patient's vitals after they return from surgery to make sure the patient is stable.
Asphyxiation is apparent from shortness of breath and blue-gray or cherry-red skin color. In some cases, the patient may not be conscious or breathing.
Sedation.
Sedation dentistry is vastly important when dental procedures are required for patients who are fearful of the dentist. The sedation dentist uses a variety of sedatives to relax the patient prior to the procedure.
Whether they're conscious or unconscious you verify the patient's name and date of birth (verbally when conscious, armband when not). Also explain what you're doing to them whether they're conscious or not.
Broken bones are extremely painful. Any movement of a broken bone causes terrible pain to the patient. Sedation is a great way to calm the patient, relieve his/her pain and be able to manipulate the bone for setting without resistance from the patient.

Sedation is a technique which is used in a lot of fields. It includes the medical industry and dental industry as well. Many serious operations and dental cleaning, dental treatments, oral treatments are performed through sedation. After sedation a patient is unconscious and do not feel any pain or fear regarding the injections and knifes. Only the professionals should perform sedation.
Sedation dentistry would be used when a patient does not want to feel the dental work being performed on him or her. There are different types of sedation including but not limited to nitrous oxide (laughing gas), or a sedative pill administered orally by the dentist.
