It gets cold in the winter and usually snows several times. Sometimes there are inversions where the highs in the valley may only be 20 but highs in the mountains may be in the 40-50s. It sometimes rains even in the winter. In the spring, the average high rises from about 55 in March to 70 in May. Springtime in Idaho is the rainy season. Occasional thunderstorms hit Boise in the late spring, but are rarely severe, but almost never large hail. The summer is very hot, with temperatures hitting 100 or higher several times. It is very dry then. It starts to cool off by late August, and by early October, average highs are only around 70-75. It continues to be fairly dry until about late October, when more storms hit the west. By November, it starts to get cold again and may snow, but more likely it will be warm enough to rain
Idaho has four distinct seasons. It's extremely dry. The winters are cold; it snows from time to time and there are short periods of inversion in which the city it in fog. Spring is beautiful for 3 months, summers are hot and very dry, and the autumn are also generally dry. Other than the odd foggy winter day or spring rainfall, it is extremely sunny.
It is hilly and cool (temperature wise) and it snows a little in the winter. Most winters we get a some snow.....others we get lots. Temps are usually 32 or under. We don't get into the negatives usually, except for windchill sometimes. As for the summers....we usually have 15+ days of 100 or over, most of the temps in the summer though are in the 90's.....most of the time.
Idaho is a huge state, and one that ranges from 700 feet above sea level to 10,000 feet or more.
It is impossible to name an average temperature, as it is so different depending on where you are, but . . .
In the North part of Idaho where I live, the winter average temperature is around 29 degrees F.
In the plains of South part of Idaho, the winter average temperature is around 25.5 degrees.
