I dont know if its the BEST crop to grow but white grapes give more money than Peas

For the best bang for your buck, based on a per hour, per single plot, the best thing for you to plant that I know of is Raspberries.

Raspberries take 2h to grow and will net you a 26g profit, per single plot per every 2h, so they make you 13g profit per hour, the only down side is you dont get any EX points.

So you would make in 12 hours on 100 plots, ( witch is quite small) 15,600g

Blueberries are the next best, for making money.

Blueberries take 4h to grow, and you make 41g profit every 4h per single plot. that would be 10.25g per hour, they will also give you 1xp each.

You would make in 12 hours on 100 plots, 12,300g

White grapes take 12h to grow, and make 115g profit every 12h per single plot.

that would be 9.58g per hour, they will also give you 2xp each.

You would make in 12 hours on 100 plots, 11,500g

Peas take 24h to grow, and make 191g profit every 24h per single plot.

that would be 7.958g per hour, they will also give you 3xp each.

You would make in 12 hours (if it was possible) on 100 plots, 9,550

if you are going away for a few days, and want something that will make the most gold for you in 3 days the best I know of is Red Wheat.

Red Wheat takes 3 days to grow, and make 269 profit every 3 days per single plot.

that would be 3.736g per hour, they will also give you 2xp each.

You would make in 12 hours (if it was possible) on 100 plots, 4,483

You can't grow crops quicker but you can do this to harvest, seed, and plow quicker without a harvester. Dig up the plot of land where you start and then put hay bales of any color around you so there are no gaps then your person cant move so the harvesting will be done without walking from crop to crop. Also Farmville sometimes has special crops deco etc so there are some special crops that can get big money and harvest in a few hours.

The calculation is:

(Sell - Buy - Plowing) x ( 24 / Harvest Hours)

This assumes you can Harvest/Plow/Sow immediately when a crop is ready and you have no idle plot time... although rumor has it that a FarmVille day is really about 23 hours -- so maybe you do have some idle plot time built in to Harvest/Plow/Sow after all.

Simple example with a 24 hour crop, Grapes, which you buy for 85 coins, sell for 270 coins, and harvest in 24 hours:

270 - 85 = 185 (Sell - Buy = Gross Profit)

185 - 15 = 170 (Gross - Plowing cost = Net Profit)

170 * (24/24) = 170 (24 hr day / harvest hrs = Yield/day)

More complicated example with multiple harvests per day using

Tomatoes, which you buy for 100, sell for 173, and harvest in 8 hours (3 harvests per day):

173 - 100 = 73 (Sell - Buy = Gross Profit)

73 - 15 = 58 (Gross - Plowing cost = Net Profit)

58 * (24/8) = 174 (24 hr day / Harvest hrs = Yield/day)

Trees on the other hand can be more profitable because of the planting density... 16 trees fit on a single plot. So using the same formula as above, and for the sake of simplicity, ignoring the initial plowing cost and Buy price because you only plant a tree once and then harvest it from then on, the Lime Tree, Sells for 75 and can be harvested in 120 hours (5 days):

75 - xxx = 75 (Sell = Gross Profit)

75 - xxx = 75 (Gross = Net Profit)

75 * (24/120) = 15 (24 hr day / Harvest hrs = Yield/day)

Average Yield per day per Lime Tree is 15 coins, times 16 trees per plot, gives an Average Yield per day, per plot of:

15 * 16 = 240 coins

Note that the Buy price of a Lime Tree is 750 coins, so with a Net Profit of 15 coins/day, it takes 50 days for a Lime Tree to pay for itself... but after that, your 12000 coin Lime Tree plot rakes in a cool 240 coins/day on average like clock-work.

The numbers above are from my notes when I first started playing FarmVille so some prices may be different as you read this and perhaps I've made a few typos, but I believe the basic formula to be true and with a little spread-sheet work a nice chart can be made to help a farmer maximize returns.

The most profitable crops in FarmVille are usually the limited edition crops.

Super berries were the most profitable of all the limited edition crops. They were available for 10 coins per plot, after 2 hours, they yield 100 coins per plot for a profit of 40coins per plot per hour.

Oats are available at Level 53. They cost 225 coins per plot. After 8 hours, they yield 310 coins per plot for a profit of 10.6 coins per plot per hour.

Basil is available at Level 48. It costs 300 coins per plot. After 10 hours, it yields 400 coins per plot for a profit of 10 coins per plot per hour.

Forget-me-nots were once a limited edition crop, but it is now available to players at Level 90. It is the most profitable crop in FarmVille. They cost 725 coins per plot, after 18 hours, they yield 900 coins per plot, for a profit of 9.7 coins per plot per hour.

White grapes are available at Level 29. They cost 275 coins per plot. After 12 hours, they yield 360 coins per plot for a profit of 7.1 coins per plot per hour.

the best plant and the best profit would be the bell peppers if you hae a lot of fam as i do then you it will take all your coins the first time but when it is time to harvest you gett all of it back X4 its pretty cool

Althogh other's may say that it isn't i find pumpkins and squash to be the best ,Sunflowers are good so are carots but dont forget razzberies if you need some quick cash

No, watermelons only give you 65 profit. Peas give you a profit of 176! Plus watermelons take too long to grow...

It depends on your level - what you can grow, and your time frame - how long til harvest. Do the math.
