There is no definite answer to this, but sec-Butyllithium can rip a proton from just about anything.

A methanide compound (one with a C4- anion), in theory, would blow sec-Buyllithium out of the water.

In water (solutions) the strongest base is hydroxide, OH-, stroger bases do not persist in water, they'll completely react with the very weak acidic watermolecules.

Eg. (O2-)s + H2O --> 2OH- (example CaOs + H2O --> 2 Ca2+ + 2OH- )

The cyclopentyl anion, C5H9-, is the conjugate base of cyclopentane, C5H10, which has a pKa of about 60. So I'd say that cyclopentyllithium (C5H9Li) which contains this nucleophilic carbon on the carbanion is the strongest base which exists.

Carbanions in general are extremely basic- they contain a negatively charged carbon. Because carbon is not particularly electronegative, it will steal a proton from wherever it can- the cyclopentyl carbanion is made more unstable by the great strain in the 5-carbon ring.

Therefore cyclopentyllithium will deprotonate even the weakest of acids such as ammonia to form the much more stable alkane.

C5H9-+ NH3 --->C5H10 + NH2-

Note that this reaction is very unusual because ammonia (which is usually considered a base) is acting as an acid!

Lithium Disopropylamid is the strongest base. Strong bases have an affinity for protons and can be dissolved completely in water.
