Nothing unless person is declared to be mentally incompetent at the time the power of attorney was made
A 'Power of Attorney' is granted by an individual to someone whom they trust to act as they, themselves, would act under the same circumstances. There are general POA's and Limited POA's. General POA's cover ALL aspects of every decision that might be made. Limited POA's limit the grantee to making decisions on only certain, specified things, or circumstances. Are you sure that you are not asking about GUARDIANSHIP for an elderly person? That is an entirely different matter. A 'Guardianship' can be awarded by court action, but the need for it must be proven to the statisfaction of the judge.
public defender is someone who represents the court a state appointed attorney is someone who the court will appoint to the accused to represent them in court I would double check this as I am from Scotland and we have a different legal system and its a solicitor over here not an attorney

Anyone can act as a power of attorney for someone else. You do not have to be an attorney
Being elderly is subjective. In many countries people of a certain age collect a pension though the age varies according to the country. Even in such cases not all would be considered elderly. Someone in their teens may consider a 40 year old elderly, whilst someone in their 40s may consider someone in their 60s elderly.
It does not make sense that someone would have to pay an attorney tax. If someone needs the counsel of a tax attorney, that is another matter. A tax attorney handles issues around tax and the IRS.
Elderly doesn't means that you have aged. Its just that you are senior to someone or elder to some one.
Elderly.
Knowing someone being an attorney is not a conflict of interest. You can always get a different attorney if you want to.
To find a great bankruptcy attorney, one should first consider which attorneys to have in mind. Compare drawbacks of different attorneys, choose the one that best fits expectations. Also consider the price range of each attorney.
You can represent yourself or have an attorney.
