What can you do to stop my 7 year old from lying all the time?

You might try feeding them something they don't like for dinner on the days you catch them in a lie. Small amount of something healthy, broccoli, mushrooms. Everyone else in the family gets a normal dinner. Make sure they still get their normal drink. If they are still hungry, bread and butter or crackers. Something bland but filling. We do not want to deny nutrition, simply solve a problem. If after a few trys this doesn't help then stop, find another way. If it is a phase then it will pass, if it is pathological you need to get the kid to a psychiatrist. It may also be the case that they are afraid of telling the truth, in which case you should make it clear that you will never hurt them/punish them for telling the truth (and then follow up on the promise).
