when rainwater and runoff, as well as underground streams of water dissolve minerals in the rock or soil which includes salt, and reach the water body with a higher concentration of salt than the water body. salt increase can also be caused by evaporation of the water, which reduces the water level while maintaining the same salt content, hence more salt in less water.

salt being lost can occur through desalination or harvesting of salt, as well as rain and runoff which travels overland, hence gaining much less salt, and diluting the overall salt content of the water body.

technically, seasons. if you are very observant, when one is in the dry season i.e. a low amount of rainfall occurs thereby reducing the water level but when one is in the rainy season, more fresh water is added thereby increasung the water level. another factor is the climatic factor which are sub-divided into: 1. rainfall 2. temperature 3. relative humidity 4. cloudiness 1. RAINFALL: here, the amount of rainfalll affects directly the change in the water level. more rainfall, more water; less rainfall, less water. 2. TEMPERATURE:Temperature can be defined as the degree of hotness or coldness of a body or place. If the temperature of a certain place is high it encourages evaporation of surface water from the water body thereby leading to the decrease in the water level. while if the temperature is low, there will be either little or no evaporation of surface water therby maintainig the water level. 3. RELATIVE HUMIDITY: This is the amount of water vapour present in the atmosphere of an area at a certain time. if th relative humidity is high, there would be no surface evaporation of water because the air would be saturated with water vapour. but if the relative humidity is low, ther would be need for evaporation so that the air would maintain its water vapour content thereby decreasing the water level. 4. CLOUDINESS: If ther is a large amount of clouds in a cerain place, from what weknow in the water cycle, and with a high degree of temperature, it willlead to the immediate formation of water in the atmosphere for it to come down as rain thereby increasing the water level.
