New students were required to purchase, uniform, a wand and various books among other things. They also needed robes, parchment and quilbs. Students were given the option of bringing a pet but were not allowed broomsticks.

∙ 14y agoFirst years were required to bring the following: a wand, subject books, a standard size 2 pewter cauldron, a set of brass scales, a set of glass or crystal phials, a kit of basic potion ingredients (for Potions), and a telescope (for Astronomy).
First-year students will require:
- Three sets of plain work robes (black)
- One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear
- One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)
- One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings)
Please note that all pupils' clothes should carry name tags
