yes they get along well with other dogs As with all dogs, for them to get along, it is important that they are socialised with other dogs throughout their puppyhood. This allows them to learn the dog body language. The first place they learn this is from their mother, and the first 8 weeks are critical for this. Bringing friendly dogs to their home while they are still young helps them to realise that visiting dogs can be friends, not a territory challenge. Taking them out to parks to meet other dogs on neutral territory is also important. The more any dog meets other dogs the less excited it will be and the more likely to behave. Remember, as you are their pack leader, they will take their cue from you as to how to behave. So relax and they will too.
YES! They are wonderful large dogs with a happy and loyal attitude. Although having floppy ears and a big head they are much smarter than one light think. Being very food motivated they are very easy to train and enjoy pleasing their owners. Their coat sheds but not a lot at once and if you brush them frequently you will vacuum the house less. Drawback on the breed is their short lifespan said to be about 7.5 years.
I have a Bernese mountain dog and a Bernese Mountain Dog crossed with a German Shepard. They play very well together. The Bernese has a lovely temperament and gets on well with any dog. The Bernese cross is not good with any dog except my Bernese. The Bernese Cross is brilliant with people and a very affectionate dog. I have them both from puppies and they were raised together which I think has helped.
