Whatever amount of knowledge or intelligence I have gained in this life I will take with me into the next life. If I have gained sufficient knowledge about the spiritual things, and fulfilled my duty to my fellow man, then I will perhaps be schooled further. Hopefully I shall then be given the responsibilty to teach others who had not had the opporunity to have such learning. My stay in the spirit world will go on until the resurrection when the judgement of all mankind will take place, thereafter being rewarded according to my deeds on earth.
If I am allowed to stand on the right hand of Christ I may spent the eternities with Him and my family (If they are found worthy). If not then I shall be alloted a lower kingdom.
Many people believe that this is your only kick at the can. When you are dead you are not here (or there)in any sense. This is no problem as you weren't here for 15 billion years (or so) from the start of the Universe. The next 30 billion (or so) until it disappears won't be any different.
