In the US, an OB/GYN is a licensed physician and surgeon with special training in obstetrics and gynecology. Here are the steps:

1. Obtain a four year degree from an accredited college, taking the necessary science courses to be eligible to enter medical school. These courses differ slightly from school to school, but in general consist of 2 courses in general Biology, 2 courses in general chemistry, 2 courses in organic chemistry, 2 courses in physics, and 2 courses in calculus. Additional courses in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, and almost any other science will be useful.

2. While obtaining your degree, study for and take the MCAT (http://www.aamc.org/students/mcat/). Prepare well, as you must earn a high score to obtain entrance into US medical schools.

3. Apply to medical schools. There are two degrees granted in the US with which a person my practice medicine the MD degree and the DO degree(http://www.osteopathic.org/index.cfm?PageID=ado_whatis) each of which have their own online application system:

http://www.aamc.org/audienceamcas.htm

and

https://aacomas.aacom.org/

4. While in medical school, pass all your courses, work hard, impress the OB/GYN physicians you work with.

5. After graduation, complete a residency in OB/GYN.

This seems straight forward enough, however, accomplishing these steps is very difficult. It takes most people 12-14 years after high school to become practicing OB/GYN physicians in the US. However, if you persist and are successful in your efforts, being an OB/GYN physician is very gratifying.
