Meridiem is the Latin for midday.

Ante is the Latin for before.

Post is the Latin for after. a.m. is the abbreviation of the Latin phrase ante meridiem - and means beforemidday.

p.m. is the abbreviation of the Latin phrase post meridiem - and means after midday. Because we use a 12 hour clock we need to be able to distinguish which part of the day we mean when we say 8 o'clock. I don't want to hang around for 12 hours wiating for the 8:00 bus.

A.M mean before noon so its before 12:00PP.M is after noon so its after 12:00p.m

Some people get confused while putting their alarms on with the confusing of A.M and P.M

11:59a.m is the last minute to the P.M after noon

At evening we also use P.M
