On January 7th, we celebrated the great Solemnity of the Epiphany. For our Community of Eucharistic Adorers, this is one of our special Feast Days. Our life of adoration is modeled after the Magi, who fell prostrate and worshiped their Infant God. To their eyes, the Babe appeared like all other babes, yet they adored Him as God. Such is the life of faith. For us, our eyes look upon what appears to be a piece of bread, yet we fall prostrate before our Eucharistic Lord and worship Him...for faith tells us that Jesus Himself is Truly and Substantially Present in the Most Blessed Sacrament! To celebrate the great Solemnity of the Epiphany, we have our annual house blessing. Processing around the house with holy water and incense, the priest blesses our abode. Above each doorway is written with blessed chalk the following inscription: 20+C+M+B+07. This inscription traditionally is meant to represent the first three initials of the names of the Wise Men: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar. Seeing the initials of the Wise Men remind us of the Who they beheld in Bethlehem...and Who we all hope to behold when this earthly pilgrimage is complete. The initials also represents the blessing: Christus Mansionem Benedicat or Christ Bless this House!
