What does I'll give myself to you for my sins against humanity mean?
The phrase "sins against humanity" has become almost a cliche when describing events like the holocaust, environmental destruction, war and the like. The closest Biblical reference I could find was 1 Samuel 2:25. It seems to reference that God will judge you for your sins. To me, it is saying you can give yourself to God and repent.

It's likely that human action and behavior extend much farther back in time than the concept of "sin" itself. From this chronological point of view, the question may be rephrased as "Why have we imposed a concept of sin on what humans do?" (and have been likely doing all along...) So the question in… a broader sense is "Why have humans created (or been handed by a divine power) a set of rules (including a set of things that "shouldn't be done" ie sins) only to continually break them?" . Given the above, some answers to the question: -the old addage, "because rules are made to be broken" -from an evolutionary point of view, (1) societies that had a set of "reasonable" rules of conduct survived and those that did not (eg wanton recklessness was permitted), did not survive and, as a refinement of (1), (2) societies whose members NEVER broke the rules also did not survive (eg if you NEVER behave recklessly you're less likely to produce an accidental birth (for example) which, if current figures on this are accurate throughout history, account for some 50% of newborns--in short, fewer births could well mean less chance of the society surviving) -the TENSION between the individual ego and the (egoless) self-sacrifice to society is always going to be there; it sometimes manifests itself in favor of the ego by people breaking the rules, committing a sin; sometimes the tension swings the other way and an individual will sacrifice themselves completely; a PERFECT balance is not practical or possible--there will always be oscillations about the mean tension . Christian theology, on the other hand, posits that man sins because his nature rebels against the will of his Creator. The individual self-will revolves around the fulfillment of self-centered desires of a physical, social, economic, and psychological nature.. But, again according to the tenets of Christianity, the will of the Creator is for the ultimate good of all men. It is here that the tension between the individual ego (self-will) and the will of the Creator (requiring self-sacrifice) manifests itself. When a man follows the urges of his self-will even though doing so violates the manifest will of the Creator, the resulting action is what Christian teaching calls sin.. The continual battle within the individual between his self-will and the divine will, and the tendency to sin despite the Christian's conviction that he should not, is termed concupiscience.. While behaviors in opposition to God's likely have been persistently present, it was only with the dawning awareness of the concept of sin that man became liable for his choices. From a Christian standpoint, sin is impossible unless one is aware that the action considered is in violation of the will of God.. Further, Christian teaching disputes the suggestion that man, either individually or collectively, can benefit from sinful behavior. The Christian God is all-knowing and all-good; his commands, therefore, are perfect in their intent. Here, a Christian would differentiate between reckless behavior, such as that which may lead to an accidental birth within marriage, and sinful behavior, such as engaging in premarital sex. While the former may be reckless, it is by no means sinful according to Christian teaching.. Answer . Christians believe that all mankind sins because we are born with a sin nature. This was the result of the fall of Adam and Eve from the garden as spoken of in Genesis 3.. Psalms 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. (MORE)
In the song 'Here I Am to Worship' what does it mean by 'I'll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross'?
One Opinion . I always took that as I will never know how much my sins increased the amount that Christ had to suffer on the cross (vs. if I had not sinned) to obtain atonement for me.. Another Opinion . To me it means that I don't have any hope of understanding just how much suffering Christ… went through for me. We can see the physical pain; even that, we now are finding out, may have been significantly more severe than traditional renditions have depicted. But how much agony of the soul did He who was God incarnate have to go through to be separated from God the Father? We're born separate; we don't know any better.. I think it means that we will never know how much pain and suffering Christ went through to wash our sins away, and no matter what we may come across, there will be nothing that compares to what he has done for us. He has shown us grace - he has forgiven us for our sins even when we don't deserve it. We should be so very thankful for what he has done for us. (MORE)

You shall not steal. You are getting a grade by taking your answers (or money or ..) when they are not yours to take, your neighbor (or friend or client or ..) owns that but if you take it (even if they keep the original as in answers) you are getting something for nothing by using someone else.… And yes, even if they are not physically hurt, there is damage as the bell curve can be blown (and they get a lower grade because of you) or they don't enjoy all the fruits of their labor (money, attention, whatever.) Stealing = taking something not yours to take.. According to Jesus, "Defraud Not" . From the Hebrew word chat-ta'th or Greek ha-mar-ti'a, which literally mean to "miss," in the sense of missing or not reaching any goal, way, mark, or right point. Therefore, sin is 'missing the mark' of perfection as defined and demonstrated by The Creator. Because of inherited imperfection, …according to the Bible, all humans sin, both willfully and accidentally, and are thus deserving of death since God's standard of justice cannot be compromised. The consequences of sin for each individual human being can only be averted by a 'payment', or ransom, for what was originally lost, namely a perfect human life. Since no inherently sinful descendant of the first willful sinner Adam can pay that ransom, God provided the payment in the form of his Son. When Jesus gave up his perfect life, (like the one that Adam first 'sold' to willful disobedience and sin, which would then be passed on to all his descendants) he payed the ransom for the whole human family and allowed for God's standard of justice to be satisfied. Now any human, according to the Bible, that has faith in this ransom arrangement, and shows this faith by working in harmony with it's Giver and His requirements, can avail him or herself of the benefits of the provision. In effect, they can be free from sin, and therefore free from it's consequence: death. Answer: According to the Bible: "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW ." (I John 3:4) (MORE)

in most christian religions, it is all based on the seven deadly sins; Lust, envy, pride, gluttony, sloth, rage and wrath. Another answer: . More important is what the Bible means by "sin." Yes. . Answer: . In the strictest sense, polygamy is more of a sin against modern society. . Many of the "biblical heroes" had more than one wife (and a fair share of their wives' handmaids). However, these "heroes" were blessed by God with wealth and power... and could afford them. . God, Hims…elf, has TWO estranged wives: Israel and Judah. "...the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were Mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria (Israel) is Aholah, and Jerusalem (Judah) Aholibah." (Ezek.23:4) . Here again... God, who owns the universe, could afford them. The average man, however, needs only one. . But it's not a matter of sin. Sin is the transgression of the law (I John 3-4)... and the Commandments say nothing about the number of wives a man may have. (MORE)

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven - not in this age or the age to come . Rejection of the word/work of God, and ascribing it to evil; i.e. to speak against the Holy Spirit [e.g. slander God], but doing it deliberately. It happens when you receive the knowledge of God, and all t…hings are opened up to you, knowing God and then to sin against God. After you have done this there is no repentance. For example: If you believed that the sun "rises" and "sets" in the sky, the world is flat, or the sun revolves around the earth. Then, I teach you that the sun only seems to rise and set, the earth is round and teach you that the earth really, in all actuality, revolves around the sun. Then after learning this and seeing this - you deny it.Good answer says mike ji But another is in the Bible when Jesus said take these two birds to the Priests for a testimony to them. When you use the ancient Hebrew lexicon one can easily tell that the sacrifice was afore telling of the Messiah and how he would die for us. definitely, god created all man and expects you to be kind and care for each other as if its to him. A human being who is limited in power expects others to be kind with him while not exceeding his power limits. Our ability of being good towards each other means that we can be bad as well when w…e take advantage of other's physical relative weakness and/or their short knowledge. What I am sure of is that I can never be bad towards my 'real' Creator unless I have a sort of power that can exceeds HIS! Also I cannot see HIM being bad in anything that happens to me because in the worst case the resultant will end up always to null. And HE won't gain anything if HE will make it negative, in a way or anther. In fact, Jesus Christ took a flesh like ours to tell us this simple truth. HE also added that the persons who are given a living human soul in them and not just a living flesh, can let their end resultant be positive if they have the chance to live the unconditional love towards all others, friends and enemies. The joy in their soul due to their free-will love towards others, here on earth, will last for eternity (even after death, how? this is off topic here). In other words, my Creator didn't create me for Himself but to give me the chance, if I like, be perfect in Love as HE is. Otherwise, sooner or later, I will just return to void (the state I was before existing in this space/time realm). If someone read attentively Jesus teachings (not the whole Bible), he would notice that there is no law to follow (said of a god or not) but the unconditional Love. These teachings/sayings are addressed to those having a human soul and looking for eternity after the death of their body (Obviously it is better for them to also discover how this could be possible, based on logic). Although I can use a product to a good extent without having the user's manual from its maker, I can take advantage of 'all' its features if I discover/get its 'real' guide. Also this proves in return that the guide I discovered is the real one and not fake. By the way, those who see they are created by the Power/Will of One Divine Being (hence selfish by nature), can never perceive/accept anything I said here. Finally, only those who like believing having more power than their Creator (God) are able to harm/hurt HIM. (MORE)

" Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain ." (Ex.20:7) Most people [created in God's image] fail to understand and realize how truly hallowed, sacred and righteous God's name is. In Jesus' "outline" for pra…yer, He instructs us to "acknowledge, honor and revere" the very name of the Father FIRST ... before we proceed any further: " AFTER THIS MANNER THEREFORE PRAY YE: Our Father which art in heaven, HALLOWED BE THY NAME ..." (Matt.6:9). All of God's Commandments are "spiritual" laws [Rom.7:14]... and it's our "attitudes" [spirit] from which the seeds of our sins are sown. The act of "murder" is a sin by the Commandment... but Jesus magnified it to reveal that the "act of murder" begins with an "angry thought." Thus, does our slumbering, negligent, casual and careless "attitudes" toward God's Sovereign and Sacred name create a spirit within us of "irreverence" and "disrespect" toward Him... which leaves us wide open to the transgression of the other Commandments. On the "carnal minded" surface of human reasoning... the third Commandment sounds "unimportant" and meaningless to most men... certainly not worth the "death penalty." We wonder why it's even listed... and why there aren't just nine Commandments. But it's one of the ten irrevocable laws of our Creator that defines sin [I John 3:4] the violation and transgression of which God is gravely and deadly serious. (MORE)

The first encounter of the word "nature" in the KJV Bible, falls into a New Testament description of man's perversion of nature that we call, homosexuality: "...God gave them up unto vile affections : for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature : and lik…ewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman , burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly..." (Rom.1:26-27). Sin, on the other hand, according to God's definition is: "...the transgression of the law." (I John 3:4) The "law" being the Ten Commandments [Rom.7:7]. The Commandments of "adultery" and "lust" [covetousness] might be cited to cover the "sin against nature" called homosexuality... except that this perversion of what God has made is too disgusting [abominable] to even name or give recognition to... and far beyond the boundaries of what He intended. So, "sin against nature " has to be the the "abomination of homosexuality," the perversion of the "natural use" of sex God created and intended between a man and a woman -- according to the Bible. They " transgressed " [broke] the Ten Commandments , which they promised God they would obey. This is the Bible's definition of sin: "... sin is the transgression of the law ." (I John 3:4) God had sanctified them [set them apart from all other nations for His holy purpose] to be an example to… other nations... and to keep them a pure nation, that they would be the nation through whom the Messiah would come. God's proposal was a simple "pact, agreement, covenant": "... IF YE WILL OBEY MY VOICE indeed, and keep My covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people: for all the earth is mine: and ye shall be a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. " These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel ." (Ex.19:5-6) Three days later, God's " VOICE " spoke the Ten Commandments aloud in their ears -- the laws He demanded that they keep and obey. [chapter 20] And though Israel agreed to obey God's voice... they didn't follow through with it. "For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: but this thing commanded I them , saying, " OBEY MY VOICE , and I will be your God, and ye shall be My people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it MAY BE WELL WITH YOU." " But they hearkened not , nor inclined their ear , but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart , and went backward, and not forward. "Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them: yet they hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck : they did worse than their fathers." (Jer.7:22-26) The two main transgressions of the Israelites was the breaking of the two longest Commandments -- Idolatry and Sabbath-breaking. Many a Bible scripture is dedicated to the admonishment of the children of Israel for their worship of the gods of the nations around them... many of which involved the "worship of trees." These rebukes and warnings incorporated the word "grove" or "groves" in them. The Druid-like practice of tree worship, whose origin was planted in Babylon. The first thing the Israelites were to do when they ousted the wicked pagan nations around them was to: "....destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves : for thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God." (Ex.34:13-14) "And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord , and forgat the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves ..." (Judges 3:7). Israel had entered into "covenant relationship" with God. It was a "marriage" arrangement in which Israel was guilty of "whoring" and prostituting herself with the gods of the nations around them, instead of remaining faithful to her "marriage vows." "Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with Me , O House of Israel, saith the Lord... for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the Lord their God." (Jer.3:20-21) "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the House of Israel, and with the House of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which covenant they brake, although I was an Husband unto them ..." (Jer.31:31-32). Israel was an "unfaithful wife"... and God served her with her "divorcement papers" for her continuous infidelity -- her adultery -- for serving and trusting in the gods of other nations instead of her Husband. Israel's " sin " against God was that their covenant [marriage] agreement was to " NOT sin ." (MORE)

A: We know that genocide is considered a grave sin, yet the Book of Joshua says that God told Joshua to commit genocide and assisted Joshua to do so, merely because he had chosen the Israelite people (or they had chosen him). We know that even murder is considered a sin, yet Acts chapter 5 says tha…t God killed Ananais and Sapphira, or at least gave Peter the power to commit this terrible deed, for what was at most a trivial offence. And there are many such examples throughout the Bible. It is possible to say that God does indeed sin against man, a reason that many early Christian Gnostics believed there must be two Gods: a cruel and vengeful one and a loving and forgiving one. Other than the Gnostic explanation, it is only possible to say that modern evidence indicates that neither of these events really occurred. If there is a God, he has been blamed unfairly for sins that never happened. Christian answer: Sin is a lack of fellowship with God. Anything which disturbs or distorts this fellowship is sin. Mankind is the created being here on this planet. The question clearly deifies mankind and puts him above God which is an idea foreign to Christianity. (MORE)
St. Augustine defined sin as "a word, deed, or desire in opposition to the eternal law." Thus sin, by definition is against Someone - God.
There appears to be no reference of Isaiah having sinned against God in the KJV of the bible. We must remember that no man in without sin. Perhaps in his younger days there was possibly some minor infringement of some law.
THE SINS AGAINST THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT. Disobeying one's parents; hating, threatening, cursing, striking, or insulting them, being ashamed of them, wishing them evil, speaking or acting unkindly toward them, cursing them anger or sorrow.
Everyone is born with the nature to sin. That is what happened at the fall of man(read Genesis 2). Sin entered the world when Adam and Eve first sinned. Answer: Before we become aware... or are taught... of God -- we are first and foremost flesh and blood, which is selfish [self-serving]. Human… nature doesn't want to be told what to do. It doesn't want to hear that it's wrong. It rebels against authority, which tells us what to do... and that we're wrong. It doesn't matter the source of that authority; whether it's God, civil authority... or parental. From the smallest toddler to the oldest adult -- we don't like it. The natural mind of man isn't attuned to spiritual things... but to the physical, the "carnal" flesh and blood aspect of life. Laws are "spiritual" things to which the carnal mind of man must be "broken to"... trained and made to obey. "Because the carnal mind is enmity [hostile] against God : for it is not subject to the law of God , neither indeed can be . So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But YE ARE NOT IN THE FLESH , BUT IN THE SPIRIT , if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you . Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, HE IS NONE OF HIS." (Rom.8:7-9) The flesh and blood, carnal [meat-head] mind of man has to undergo a "change" from selfish carnal mindedness, to a spiritual conversion by God. People have to be " trained " [hopefully, by good parents, initially] to be obedient to the laws of man as well as the laws of God -- the breaking of which is what "SIN IS" [I John 3:4]. And only the Spirit of God dwelling within a person [a personal act of God] can teach and train a person, through faith, to want to please God. It's a spirit [an attitude] of willing obedience the opposite of selfish human nature, that leads to "obedient actions." If... and until... God sets that Spirit into motion in people; then carnal minded, naturally selfish folks don't want God's... or anyone else's interference in their lives telling them what to do. Laws are broken [man's and God's], and sin and death results. In the end, sin is "disobedience" and man's selfish rebellious Human Nature must be changed to the Loving, Caring, Obedient Divine Nature of God . "Grace and Peace be multilplied unto you through the Knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord... through the Knowledge of Him that hath called us to Glory and Virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and Precious Promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the DIVINE NATURE , having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." The " usual "way; by " breakingGod's Commandments ":. "for SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW ." (I John 3:4). Most folks aren't aware, and therefore don't really care they aredoing it. But the main difference with the nation of Israel wasthat God had entered into a " covenantrelationship with… Israel " that was tantamount to MARRIAGE; inwhich the collective nation was the WIFE of her Husband, theLORD.. God's Word tells us that the nation of Israel conducted "herself"in an "adulteress" fashion:. "Surely as A WIFE treacherously departeth from her husband, SO HAVEYE DEALT TREACHEROUSLY WITH ME, O House of Israel,' saith theLORD... for they have PERVERTED THEIR WAY, and THEY HAVE FORGOTTENthe LORD their God." (Jer.3:20). "'Behold, the days come,' saith the LORD, 'that I will make a NewCovenant with the House of Israel, and with the House of Judah: notaccording to the covenant I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS in the day thatI took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt;which MY COVENANT THEY BRAKE, although I WAS AN HUSBAND UNTO THEM,' saith the LORD...' (Jer.31:31-32).. God's commandment to ALL OF MANKIND has always been to KEEP HISCOMMANDMENTS [ beginningwith Adam and Eve ]. But He stepped into the affairs of" sinning "[ disobedient ]mankind when the time was right to liberate the Israelites fromEgypt. to offer His " marriageproposal " to them, and to become their God and " Husband "-- the most INTIMATE OF RELATIONSHIPS.. It's always been about "OBEDIENCE TO HIS VOICE" [ forthe wife to OBEY HER HUSBAND ] the part of older marriage vowsthat has fallen by the wayside from modern marriage vows.. "Now therefore, IF ye will OBEY MY VOICE INDEED, and keep Mycovenant [ thismarriage agreement ], then ye shall be a peculiar TREASURE untoME above all PEOPLE: for all the earth is Mine... And all thepeople answered together, and said, 'ALL that the LORD hath spokenWE WILL DO..." (Ex.19:5-8).. ALL THE SINS OF MANKIND [i ncludingIsrael's sins ] are of the same nature : sin is the breaking of God's Commandments [ seeagain I John 3:4 ]. That's always been the CONDITIONS fornations to remain extant on the earth as nations.. "...these are the COMMANDMENTS, the statutes, and the Judgments, which the LORD your God COMMANDED to TEACH you, that ye might DOTHEM in the land... that thou mightiest FEAR the LORD thy God, toKEEP ALL HIS statutes and His COMMANDMENTS, which I command THEE,thou, and THY SON, and thy SON'S SON, ALL THE DAYS OF THY LIFE; andthat THY DAYS MAY BE PROLONGED..." (Deut.6:1-2). The Bible makes no secret regarding what's involved for a"successful, happy, prosperous, peaceful life." And NATION.. "...ye shall be UNTO ME a KINGDOM OF PRIESTS, and an HOLYNATION..." (Ex.19:6).. "Let us hear the CONCLUSION OF THE WHOLE MATTER: FEAR GOD, and KEEPHIS COMMANDMENTS: for this is the WHOLE DUTY OF MAN. For God shallbring EVERY WORK into Judgment, with EVERY SECRET THING, whether itbe GOOD or whether it be EVIL." (Eccle.12:13-14). All sins are the same... they are all DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD'SCOMMANDMENTS.. (MORE)
