The Exorcist is a movie/book. The inanimate objects film/book of The Exorcist were never possessed. The priests in the film were actually the exorcists in the story, not the little girl Reagan, she was the possessed. Though, there was possession of a priest, and death. All in all, the end result was eventual freedom from possession for all.
