UV light from the Sun can be divided into different portions, one of which is UVA. UVA reacts with the oxygen in water, for example, and creates highly reactive forms of it. Once the oxygen in water become highly reactive, they have the ability to kill pathogens by DNA damage and the destroying of cell walls.
