Anaesthesia is a medical practice which reduces pain, and is also the condition of no sensation. Certain gases or liquid vapours can be fed into the breathing system in carefully controlled doses. Anaesthetics can also be introduced into the body by injection (as at the dentist's surgery ,and even by placing drops in the eye before an operation on such a sensitive part of the body.
