Well many would say that Baba has a nasty and spiteful side to him due to the way he treats Amir at the start at the novel, although he does show his kindness through his fulfilling attention and love for Hassan. later we learn that Baba has a tough time through his life due to his relationships (Hassans mother Sanaubar). Baba is a well known man loved by nearly everyone, which shows that he must have some good in him for people to like him. he is well respected and seems to get attention off many people due to his personality. Baba does seem to love others more than his own, but later in the novel you find out why. After moving to USA Baba does seem to change and starts to treat Amir more fairly. i think that this is actually when Baba starts to show his superior side and starts to become more likeable in the audiences eyes. Showing that he can become a good father at the right time, makes the audience think higher of him and respect him more as a character. Baba is an admirable character but due to his wealth he seems to forget his fatherly skills and concentrates more on his honer and pride, this has a big impact on his personality and seems to diminish it from the audiences perspective.
