There are several places where The Bible encourages us to do our best.

E.g. Proverbs 6 KJV Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

This speaks to working hard like the ant.

Job 40:10 KJV Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

This recommends we do things to an excellent standard.

Matthew 25 speaks of ten virgins, five of whom were prepared (wise) and five who were unprepared (foolish). The prepared ones gain the prize.

I Corinthians 9 speaks of running the race in order to win...and doing everything to gain a mastery of skill.

Also, I Corinthians 10:31 KJV Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

This suggests that we should work to impress God and give God the credit, sort of like playing a sport for the appreciation and good name of a school/coach or team. You do your best.

2 Timothy 2:21 KJV If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

This encourages us to be prepared by excelling.
