In the book "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck, water symbolizes purity, life, and rejuvenation. It represents the source of sustenance for Kino and his family, as well as the source of both opportunity and danger as they navigate the challenges that arise from finding the pearl. Water also symbolizes the cyclical nature of life and the unpredictable forces of nature.
