For first-time admission as a freshman, UNC requires a minimum composite ACT of 16. Starting with Fall 2013, they will require a minimum composite ACT of 17.
You don't have to meet the minimum if the Chancellor wants to grant you an exception. That's limited to 1% of the incoming freshman class.
