What training does a 911 operator need?

Most 911 operators have to have a high school diploma. A 911 operator also needs to learn police codes, learn life-saving techniques, and must know how to communicate through typing, on the shortwave radio, and on the phone. Some 911 operators also have to learn police tactics in smaller towns because they have other duties like information gathering for intake of prisoners, cooking for prisoners, and reserve officers in the sheriff's office or police station.
