Firewire one.
Data recovery tools are necessary for recovering lost files. External hard drive recovery can also be performed with help of such software, but if you are willing to get the task done by a professional then I will recommend the company which I recently opted to.
That would depend on what operating system you are using. Every operating system has its own tools for checking hard drive and file system consistency.
You use My Computer & Windows Explorer to browse the file system on a drive in Windows XP.
If you are using Win2000 or XP you can use the Computer Management Tool (Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management) and select Disk Management. The drive name can then be changed by right clicking on the drive you want to change and selecting "change drive letter..." This procedure only works in the OS is not booted from the external drive.
You cannot. You must install the program on the system hard drive.
the same thing happened to me , i recommend going on programmes then accesories then on system tools then system restore. i hpoe it works coz it worked for me!
Get External Data.
importance of using farm tools and equipment
To mount Images you will need an image mounting software. i recommned DEAMON TOOLS but you have to pay for it. if you want a free image mounter i recommend Virtual Clone Drive
When viewing the properties of a drive the tools tab allows you to check the drive for errors and/or optimize (defragment) the drive
When its hooked up and operating properly, your external hard drive should show up as a drive letter under "my computer" just like your internal drive. You can save to it just as you would an internal drive. If the drive is not showing up as i just described, it may not be partitioned and formatted. You can investigate this by going into control panel > administrative tools > computer management and clicking on disk management in the left pane. Once you've done this, the lower-right pane will show all your hard disks, scroll through and, if you find your external hard disk in there listed as "unallocated" you can partition and format it by right-clicking on it and choosing the appropriate dialog options. NOTE: be very careful when messing around with disk management, one of the disks in that list will be your primary hard disk and erasing THAT will destroy your operating system. Be sure you are formatting the right disk.
No because most external ones need software and you cant store the soft ware on the external one This is inaccurate. An external (USB) hard drive can replace an internal drive providing that the operating system is located on the external drive AND the BIOS boot sequence is set to allow booting from a USB device as the first boot device.
