Gravity and dust.
Gravity pulls dust together forming a nebulae which gets some mass therefore gravity will become there. At the point with the greatest mass everything will pull towards. There it will keep getting higher mass and increase gravity.
Eventually it will become very hot and the atoms will ionise and start fusing together. And at that point a star has ben born.
