There are too many to list here. A good way to learn about foreign coins is to get a price guide to foreign coins from a bookstore or library and read it.

__

During the 20th century, there was a general trend away from using precious metals to produce circulating coins due to the ever increasing expense of gold and silver. By the later part of the 20th century, no country would have been producing general circulation coins with any precious metal in them at all.

Sterling silver was the standard for British "silver coins" for hundreds of years until 1919/1920 when they were debased to 50% silver.

Many of the British Empire/Commonwealth countries copied the British standard until sterling silver and silver generally became too expensive to be making coins from.

From the mid to late 20th century, no country would be producing general circulation coins made from silver, or any other precious metal due to the expense, and the value of the silver being significantly greater than the value of the coin.

Most countries produce a range of Proof coins for collectors and investors which are made from silver and other precious metals, but this is reflected in the price you pay for them.

"Foreign coins" is a relative term, being relative to where ever you are.

It would be fairly safe to say that as at 2013, no country issues any coins containing any precious metal in its general circulation coins.

How much is pure silver?

Coins are not usually silver these days. Since the 1960s they have been made of copper and nickel. Silver coins from before 1965 in the US were 90% silver. Foreign countries have used anything from 40% to 92.5% silver in their coins, but to my knowledge, no one has used pure (100%) silver in currency.

Was there any coin Silver made in the year 2000?

Yes, there were several US silver coins made dated 2000, none though were intended for circulation. There were silver eagles made ($1 coins sold as silver bullion and are 1 troy ounce of silver), along with silver proof sets (with 90% silver dime, quarters and half-dollar) and a few silver commemorative coins made. Not to mention many foreign silver coins.

Why are coins in this country no longer made in silver?

In the 1960's, the US stopped making silver coins because of the value of the metal. For example, a silver dime's silver value is worth $2 and a silver quarter is $6. Silver dollars are worth $30. The U.S. was wasting a lot of money in silver coins and the silver value was rapidly increasing, so they had to stop. Another reason would be that people took the coins, melted it and sold it to a cash-for-gold type company. Also, they would ship or smuggle them to foreign countries which is illegal.

Can foreign coins be used in other countries?

What coins are silver in 1974 and 1975 Proof Coins of Belize?

There were proof sets made in 1974 and 1975 where all 8 of the coins were silver, and proof sets made during those years when none of them were silver. Assuming that your coins are in a set, check the 1 Cent coin - if it looks silver, then all the coins in the set are silver; if it looks bronze, then none of the coins in the set are silver.

When were coins 100 percent silver?

Just recently with the advent of bullion coins such as the American Silver Eagle. Coins intended for circulation were never 100% silver because silver is simply too soft of a metal for coinage. They were 90% silver in American coins until 1964 for dimes, quarters and half dollars, but other than bullion coins, no coins are made of 100% silver.
