what is old field succession

Old Field succession is when old farm land has been left to the elements to change naturally over time. It has primarily been studied in the Eastern united states. After the field is abandoned it is colonized by plants and if left long enough will turn into a copse.

what will happen is that weeds will start to grow and soon after that there might start some wildlife. that will not happen for a while but at least there will be some plants and shrubs and weeds.
