If a fracture isn't treated, the bone will still heal, but it may not heal correctly. The bone may grow together improperly and result in a crooked or lumpy area. It may also end up being more painful in the long term than it would have been if it had been properly treated.

If you decide there is no need for a cast and manually take off your cast without a doctors ok, your arm may not be fully healed. What may happen is that the bone will fully heal, but be more crooked than it normally would be.
