Um, Well i would be like your welcome.
Someone (maybe the author) is saying that someone told him exactly what will not happen that evening. Perhaps he (or she) was hoping that someone would select him for a da…nce, or other neat idea. But now it will NOT happen and will ruin their daydreams. In very simple English it means something like "I don't like it when things don't turn out as I had planned."
